Tonight America finally has its way with Amber...she was sent packing from the house in a 3-1 vote...so much for the "good guys." Amber made a last ditch plea to Eric and Jessica that the "good" people should win the game. Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't make you any more "good" than they are Amber. Finally, we see an end to the constant flow of tears...sigh.
Jessica realized too late that she should have nominated Dick and Daniele. This would have left her in a much better position in the game. Eric managed to manipulate Jessica into doing his dirty work and unless he wins the HOH, Jessica is certain to be on the block.
Jameka still can't compete for HOH, that leaves Eric, Zach, Daniele and Evel to battle out in a night long event where they fill a bowl with tea--one cup at a time. Zach seemed to be holding his own but didn't seem to have a sense of urgency about the competition. If there is a time to win HOH Zach, this is it.;) Zach was able to use just one hand to cover the cup, trapping the tea, leaving the other arm free for balance. It will be interesting to see how his strategy plays out.

Tonight, Zach gave Jessica a wake-up call. He sagely warned her that should Dick and Daniele remain in the house that their unique bond would make them loyal to each other and leave Jessica venerable and open to eviction next week. Later in the show, Evel confided to Daniele that they indeed needed to send Jessica home so they do pose a very-real threat to Jessica.
During the POV (Power of Veto) competition, Eric played like a madman and managed to edge out the others for the win, leaving him holding the POV and the ability to veto Amber or Zach off the block. Ironically, the competition was to find riddles on hidden rats that bore a remarkable resemblance to Eric and feed them to a cat that wore an expression that was strikingly similar to Evel Dick's whenever he thinks he has done something special (which is tediously most of the time...sigh.;) I am not positive that this was an accident.;)
Eric would be smart to play the POV in return for a favor. This is the first season where the houseguests realize that the POV is a powerful bargaining tool and holding it grants almost as much power being HOH. In fact, Zach appealed to Eric to try to get him to use the veto in a backdoor move that would have allowed Jessica to place Dick or Daniele on the block...essentially the plan I proposed for him in my last article...kudos, Zach for a brilliant-strategic move. Amber tried to work a deal that would keep her in the house, but Americans had wanted her nominated and Eric seemed to want to honor their intent.
Unfortunately, for Eric and Amber anyway, Eric failed to use the power of veto. Eric missed the opportunity to end the most-powerful alliance in the house and gain a promise from Zach...one I am positive he would keep and fulfill. I am beginning to think that Eric isn't much of a strategist because he failed a golden opportunity and chose to play it "safe" by not using the POV...what a waste...sigh. Vetoing Zach wouldn't have been contrary to America's wishes and I for onw wouldn't have blamed him for looking out for his best interests.
Jessica is not in a good place going into next week's HOH competition. Zach seems to be coming alive and is arguably the best-strategist in the game. My prediction is that Amber will be sent packing and Zach will remain in the house. Dick and Daniele remember that Amber has an axe to grind about Dustin's eviction and I don't think they want her lurking about in the house.
Zach might be in a really-good position should Evel and Daniele win HOH. I have a feeling that they will try to get Daniele evicted, starting a feud that will leave Zach unnoticed. Eric seems set on being in a final four with Jessica, Evel and Jessica. I don't see that happening unless Eric wins HOH next time around. Had Eric played the POV the game would be in the bag for him and Jessica. As it is, the HOH competition next time will be pivotal. Evel considers his alliance to be himself, Daniele, Eric and Jessica. A lot will depend upon whether Zach and Jameka have the guts to endure the endurance test and how it is structured. A LOT about the game is decided by how the events are constructed to favor weight, height, intelligence or agility. It will be interesting to see how things play out in the next HOH.
There you go...way more than you could possibly want to know about my take on Big Brother 8...Enjoy the show.

Tonight, we embark upon another of my now famous investigations. I know, I know, many of you are already cringing and closing your browsers but I feel that I must go on with the show.
Recently, two things occured that were so lame that it merits a FULL investigation, INCLUDING visuals.
The first lameness was Miss Teen South Carolina's stunning answer to one of those canned questions they ask at beauty pagents to prove that the event isn't all about girls capering around in bikinis. In the interview portion of that mind-numbing event, they asked this witty-young beauty about Americans and Geography. For those of you with a strong stomach, you can read the full-transcript here.
The question was, "One-fifth of Americans can not locate the US on a world map, why do you think this is?" Well, first of all, I wouldn't end a sentence with, "is,";) (Another prime example of just how badly our schools are failing) but that aside, let's continue. Miss Teen South Carolina proceeded to show just how effective our schools actually have become by muddling her way through the question in a series of vagaries and platitudes that would make the YouTube Debate pale by comparison.
The second lameness is the fact that our schools are so pitiful that 1/5 of Americans can not locate the US on a world map. I would venture to say that even fewer Americans can actually express one-fifth as a fraction. (I will investigate our schools another time...I think Miss Teen USA provides enough lameness for one sitting.) I vowed that by the time I was done, every-last-one of my readers would be able to locate that puppy on the world map, BLINDFOLDED.;) They will probably leave this site never to return after tonight's spectacle, but they WILL be able to locate the US on the world map.
Later, in tonight's stunning entertainment, I am actually going to make you watch Miss Teen South Carolina stumble though that question and answer session, so you might start mentally preparing yourself for some mind-boggling stupidity.
I have posted a LOT today, so you will probably want to go to the archive to view the posts that have been pushed from the main page...or not. Afterall, Miss Teen South Carolina's Dazzling Interview is lurking around here somewhere.;)

http://theclevercynic.blogspot.com/
Tonight, in a surprise move....well, surprising to me at least, Jessica nominated Zach and Amber. I am not totally sure about Jessica's reasoning on this move, but the choice seems ideal for Eric.;) Both he and Jessica are in a secret alliance with Dick and Daniele and I think Eric has a much stronger alliance with those two than Jessica. Jessica had a stronger alliance going with Zach and Eric and I feel that nominating Zach was a huge mistake on her part.
I have a sneaky feeling that our housemole Eric has been working Jessica to the max and I don't doubt that he is watching out for his best interests. Jen did raise some doubt in Jessica's mind about Eric's honesty following his cheap shot when she left the house that Eric had a girlfriend back home that Jessica didn't know about. As I wrote in my last article, sometimes it is best to just keep your mouth shut. I can't imagine what Eric thought he would gain by slamming Jen on her way out of the house.
Since Jessica is HOH this week, she can't compete next week and that will leave her wide-open for a slam from Dick and Daniele. She also didn't make any friends by nominating Zach and Amber. Her only hope is for Eric to win HOH, but Eric isn't exactly a powerhouse at competitions. If either Dick or Daniele win HOH, their choices for nomination are narrow and the father-daughter bond is tight...Jessica had better have a backdoor strategy in mind.
Jessica managed to pretty much sever her ties with everyone in the house except for Dick, Daniele and Eric. Her only hope is if she has a backdoor plan in mind for Daniele and hopes to put her on the block should she, Zach or Amber win the POV. If Jessica wins the POV she could mirror Danile's brilliant move last week and veto Zach and replace him with Daniele.
The problem with this plan, is that I am not sure that she has this in mind. At the end of the show she indicated that she still has an alliance with Dick and Daniele and doesn't feel the need to eliminate either of them at this time...in my opinion, she has a very-shaky alliance with them at best. A lot depends upon who wins the POV. If the right person wins, and America does not vote to have Eric vote against Amber, things could still go all right for Jessica if she puts Daniele on the block. The best thing that could happen for Jessica is if Amber wins the POV and she is forced to nominate Daniele.:) In fact, that may be her plan and that way her nomination of Daniele seems "forced.";)
In the next POV competition we will find out just how well Zach can play the game. If he manages to win POV, he might well wind up at the very end in the final two.
Tonight's competition was for clothing and it was split boys against girls. The players had to undress under a sudsing machine as they hung the clothing up to dry to unscramble words using the letters sewn to their clothing. I think Big Brother planned this competition long ago in case Nick was still in the house and had still not washed his hair.;)
The next POV competition is crucial. The person who wins the POV will have tremendous power in deciding the outcome of the game, so it ought to be very-interesting to watch.
Tonight, Amber indicated that she would love to be a model...sigh...sigh...sigh. Big Brother was merciless in making fun of her by showing scenes of her in a bikini and stuffing her face. America is the only country on earth where every average-looking woman thinks she should be a model hehe.;)
There you go...way more than you could possibly want to know about my analysis of Big Brother 8...enjoy the show.

In a unanimous vote plus some, Jen was evicted from the Big Brother House. In a Big Brother first, Jen received a penalty vote toward eviction when she broke the rules by eating something other than slop.
Jen also got into a fracas with Evel Dick about his smoking. He is always rudely blowing smoke in her face, and I can't blame her for calling him out about it. She went on to destroy his stash of cigarettes. In a way I think it may have been a last-ditch effort to get him to lose his temper and break the rules...if there are actually still any rules to break.;)
To be honest, I am not sure it made any difference about the slop. Jen was going home anyway and had I been in her shoes I would have had steak, salad, onion rings and a Coke, because as she correctly guessed, it no longer mattered. I can guarantee you that if I had been sure I was going home, I would not be eating any slop, so I have to say that I admire her moxy.;) As she left the house, Eric gave a cheap, parting-shot in the back that they were as glad to see her go as she was to be leaving. I can't say that that scored any points with me and probably cost Eric Jen's vote should he make the final two...not a smart move...sigh. I am also not a big fan of "in the back" parting cheap shots but that may be Eric's style...that and cross dressing. Big Brother did ask Eric tonight about his tendency to don women's clothing and he didn't actually deny that it is a regular event.
Amber and Daniele left the house to compete on a game show in New York City. Big Brother hinted tonight that one of them did well as a contestant and will reveal the results on Sunday night's show. They also asked fans to suggest someone for Eric to try to get nominated for eviction. I am guessing that America will choose Amber again...apparently America hates a crybaby. Had America not been involved, I have a feeling that Jessica would put Evel on the block alongside Daniele, now I am not so sure.
With the American wild card coming into play, it is harder to predict who will be nominated. If Eric presses too hard to keep Evel off the block, Jessica may become suspicious and realize that Eric is in a secret alliance with Evel and Daniele...not a very-smart place to be for Eric to be at this point I might add. Sooner or later Eric had better turn on them or it will be too late. Both Evel and Daniele are tough competitors and I can't see Eric beating either one in a head-to-head match.
If I were Jessica, I would play my own game at this point, ignore Eric, and put Daniele on the block alongside Jameka...the ultimate Big Brother Pawn. Jameka doesn't know it, but losing the ability to compete for HOH was the best strategy move in the game.;) I would be tempted to put Amber on the block because I am so sick of her crying, but I could tolerate the crying for another week to get rid of Daniele, the TOUGHEST competitor in the house. Worst case scenario would be that Daniele would win the POV and then Evel goes up in her place and goes home...win-win either way. If anyone besides Dick and Daniele still hope to win at this point, they had better break up the relatives ... FAST.
There you go...way more than you could possibly want to know about my assessment of Big Brother, my love of onion rings and my personal take on the game...
