Farmer Wants A Wife - Farmer Wants A Wife is a reality television show that airs on CW where, you guessed it, a farmer wants a wife.

The farmer wants a wife, but I can't imagine some of these girls actually fitting in in a town with a population of just over 300 people. Most of these girls look like they have never done an honest day of work in their entire lifetime.

None-the-less, farmer wants a wife is a hit...sigh. I guess people just can't get anough of reality dating shows. Maybe the rural twist makes it more interesting in a Green Acres sort of way.

As you can see from the A Farmer Wants a Wife, these girls have their work cut out for them if they want to land the farmer.

As if beauty pageants weren't cutthroat enough, now there is the new series - Miss America Reality Check - a Miss America reality show...of sorts. I mean just how reality can you get about a beauty pageant.?

Think of Miss America Reality Check as a mix of Survivor, The Apprentice and Big Brother only with hot bikini babes with "talents." I have never quite figured out exactly what the talent portion of the show was really all about. I thought beauty pageants were some excuse to have hot babes parade around in swimsuits and the rest was fluff.

Well, Miss America Reality Check will shed a bit of that fluff as the reality portion of the show kicks in. The show premires tonight on TLC and if you like hot babes in bikinis and other "talents," be sure to check it out.

Amanda Kimmel, you know her as the hot girl in the bikini from Survivor with the fuzzy butt blur that Survivor felt that they had to add when the show aired on television failed to win the Survivor title. I really felt that Amanda Kimmel of Survivor: China won this year's Survivor competition. Not because her outfit was so hot and sexy that they felt the need for the fuzzy butt blur effect in every episode. I felt she outwitted, outlasted and outplayed the others.

I have always felt that the winner of the last immunity competition is the true winner of the Survivor title. Afterall, Amanda Kimmel held the power in her hands to send any of the other three out the door at the last tribal council. That showed me that at that moment she could have sent the winner, Todd Herzog packing and perhaps been named the winner of the game.

I was very-surprised that Amanda Kimmel received only one of the jury votes. She clearly owned the others at the end.

As an interesting note, Amanda Kimmel is a former Miss Montana in the Miss USA pageant line and that made the fourth time that a former Miss USA delegate had been on Survivor.

Congratulations, none-the-less to the Survivor: China winner, Todd Herzog for outwitting his way through the entire Survivor competition.

Dancing With The Stars - 8/26/2007 - Season 5 - Josie Maren Goes Home

Tonight on Dancing With The Stars, Dolly Parton rocked the house and sadly, beautiful model and actress Josie Maren and her partner Alec Mazo went home. I must say that Dancing With The Stars can drag out bad news longer than any show I have ever seen.

Models never fare very well on Dancing With The Stars, they simply don't have the fan base to survive the early rounds. I was a bit surprised to learn that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and his gorgeous partner Kym Johnson were also in the bottom two. I had thought that the pair had a good first night. Their performance seemed middle-of-the-pack to me and Mark Cuban seemed to win the judges and the audience with his winning personality.

I must say that the level of competition in season 5 has hit new heights early on and the show promises to be quite entertaining throughout the season.

Dancing With The Stars Season 5 - 2007- 5/24/2007

Last night kicked off season 5 of Dancing With The Stars. This season, there will be 12 celebrities performing instead of the usual 10. The show started the night with the women all competing:

1. Melanie Brown and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - Melanie Brown of Spice Girls fame started off strong. She had a natural grace and style and her huge Spice Girls fan base should take her a long way in the competition.

2. Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas - Sabrina Bryan of the Cheetah Girls was simply amazing. She came out as quick and polished on night one as most celebrities do in the finals. Sure, she packs a few extra pounds and that dress looked awful, but she can cut the rug with the best in the world. She has a background in hip-hop that seemed to make it hard for her to learn a different style, but I have a feeling she will be very tough to beat and will go all the way to the end. It will be interesting to see how she does with some of the less-energetic dances. She has a huge fan following from her role in Cheetah Girls and should be a tough contender.

3. Jennie Garth and Derek Hough - Jennie Gart of Beverly Hills 90210 fame gave a solid and sexy performance. Her fan support may be smaller than the others but she may be able to compensate with talent. She certainly turned in a solid performance that was fun to watch.

4. Josie Maren and Alec Mazo - Josie Maren is a multi-talented model and actress with an iron in every fire. She is a supermodel, actress and business woman with her own line of cosmetics. Models usually don't fare very well in Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) and the judges were unduly harsh with her on her first night, but I saw a fire in her eyes that told me that she can be a tough competitor. If she returns she may toughen up and become quite a threat. I must say she is drop-dead gorgeous and that never hurts.;)

5. Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts - Marie Osmond the darling of Donnie and Marie fame is still America's darling according to the audience reaction following her performance on the first night. She has a HUGE fan base and may go a long, long way.

8. Jane Seymour and Tony Dovolani - Jane Seymour former Bond girl and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman is another of the most-gorgeous women on the planet. I must say the casting director of DWTS has an eye for beauty.;) She oozes style and grace. It will be interesting to see how she does with some of the more-energetic dances.

One thing is for sure, the 2007 season of Dancing With The Stars will be exciting and entertaining...enjoy the show.

Reality TV: Survivor Fiji

Is it just me?... or has anyone else noticed that Survivor is becoming a bit of a stretch? There are too many potential immunity idols floating about to make predicting the outcome of the competition enjoyable (the facet of reality television that I enjoy the most). The game this season seems more of a crap shoot than an elimination. We now have the immunity necklace, a multitude of immunity idols, and....oh yes.... individual immunity. I am wondering what is left to add in terms of immunity for next season......maybe the immunity codpiece? I can just see the look on Jeff Probt's face when they decide to hand that one over before the vote...especially if they have worn it a while.

If things play out the way I think they will I see Yau Man as the one to beat as the competition heads down the final stretch (if he has enough grit to outlast in the final challenge). For some reason when I picture a really gritty survivor type, the mental image I form doesn't look exactly like Yau Man. Granted, Yau Man is popular....most of the cast named him as the one they would chose if they had to be really stranded on a desert island; however, I just can't quite picture him as someone I would choose to rescue a loved one if they were taken prisoner.

The Clever Cynic: Reality Television worth watching--Gene Simmons Family Jewels

One reality program that is well-worth viewing is, "Gene Simmons Family Jewels." Gene Simmons is not only an accomplished rock star he is without doubt one of the savviest businessmen in the world.

P.T. Barnum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P.T._Barnum is considered by many to be the greatest promoter of all time........but Gene Simmons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Simmons#Trivia certainly gives him a run for his money.

Why is it worth watching?

1. Gene Simmons is a master at creating a brand. He owns the rights to many different trademarks and viewers can learn a lot about how he handles promotions. It never hurts to watch winners....watch enough of them and some of it might rub off on you. ;)

2. The family is just plain cool. They are surprisingly normal and it is easy to forget that they are famous and not just a regular family.

3. According to Wikipedia...."Simmons also claims (in his book Kiss and Make-up) to have slept with over 4,600 women." (So the guy must be doing SOMETHING right). ;)
