Is it just me, or has anyone else been thinking that the Extreme Makeover Home Edition TV show needs an extreme makeover?
To be honest, when the Extreme Makeover Home Edition show first started, I enjoyed it. They actually remodeled or revamped an existing home. Now, the Extreme Makeover Home Edition show has a different focus. Instead of remodeling or repairing an existing home, they often just bulldoze it and build some sort of mansion all on the premise of wanting to help someone with some disability.
The show now seems sickening and overly-materialistic. The materials that are taken from the existing home often seem wasted, generating a huge pile of waste that many times does not seem to be recycled or reused.
The Extreme Makeover Home Edition crew is always all teary-eyed over some terrible malady that is suffered by some poor disabled person, warranting the construction of a mansion at a cost that most people who are free from disability would not be able to earn in a lifetime...sigh. It just all seems so fake.
The end result makes me want to barf. It seems one huge materialistic mess and it often irks me when they pay lipservice to some "green" earth-saving product as they continue to bulldoze and build huge structures that are hardly necessary or earth-friendly.
